How To Compress Your Videos Without Using Any Software

I’ve a question for you…. Can you get the same quality from a smaller size? How can you compress your videos without using any tool or having to pay for a software?

As I stared out of my study window at the bright sunny day here in Barcelona, I was thinking, what golden nugget can I share with you that could make a big difference to your morning?

And I remembered a clever, well I think it is anyway, way to reduce the file size of videos or simply compress your videos without losing the quality, as I suggested in the subject title.

Some of you may have been thinking I was going to take this email in another direction, but I wouldn’t do that to you.

I recently invested in an online course, don’t worry I am not promoting it to you today. The first video lesson, on growing your list, was great. Only thing is, the file size was 1.1GB – which is huge, in today’s world, for a 55-minute video not to mention a waste of space on my hard drive.

So I used this simple tip I picked up from one of my business partners.

I uploaded the 1.1GB video to my YouTube account, making sure I had set the option to “Private” beforehand.

One the video had finished processing and was uploaded to my YouTube channel, I just downloaded the video by selecting “Download MP4” from the menu on the Video Manager page.

Once it had downloaded to my Mac and I checked that it played, I deleted the version of the video from my YouTube account. That video, because it was ‘private’ never saw the light of day on my YouTube channel!

compress your videos

So what was the point of doing all this? Well, I now have a video of 185 MB, rather than the original 1.1GB but the picture quality is virtually the same.

Before discovering this trick, you would probably have used programs like Handbrake to do this. Or some other convoluted application that would take ages to set up and configure how you wanted it to cop

YouTube has done a great job on making it easy for people like us to easily process videos and this is a nifty little trick you can take advantage of.

{CANT BE UNSEEN} 3 Start up tips you need to know

😉 3 Start up tips you need to know

I’ll keep this short today after my epic article about Getting other people to pay your kids through college.

Here’s a short list of tips on how to keep your new business on track….

To get your startup going – you have to START! Obvious right, well yes, but lack of action will keep you where you are now, best case, or worse – you’ll slide backwards. You’re enthusiastic about your idea get moving on it.

Make sure it’s legal. Obvious, but I just had to say it.

Check whether you need a licence, insurance or qualification to be able to start your business. You should already be aware of this as part of your due diligence.

Fail forward. Get going with your new business, make mistakes as you go.

Unless you are VERY lucky, in the first few months of building your new business you won’t have many customers, sadly it’s true. Now is the best time to learn the ropes so that when you make mistakes, believe me, you will, you will only upset a few people at the most, if anyone actually spots it. When you do, you can correct it the mistake and ‘fail forward’.

Get the tax facts and know where you stand.

Sorry, the dreaded inland revenue will want their cut for doing nothing, when you start out, don’t worry too much about this.

You should be able to get by on having an accountant do your numbers at the end of the year. Just keep simple financial records and keep every receipt – let your accountant figure it out at the end of the year.

Once you engage the services of an accountant, be aware that an accountant is qualified to do your financial statements, they are not tax experts or be able to offer you good tax advice on how to fully tax efficient.

As a suggestion, I recommend you employ a tax adviser at the same time you engage an accountant. It’s more important to discuss your business plan with a tax adviser than your accountant.

Until next time…

ways to make money online

Get other people to pay your kids through college | 5 ways to make money online

Get other people to pay your kids through college | 5 ways to make money online

Do your children need to be saddled with student debt when they graduate? Worse still, do they need to be in debt without a degree – you still have to pay the student loans even if you don’t pass, but you knew that right?

What if there was a way your children could finish college, debt free and ready to take on the world?

Well, believe it or not, there are many ways to do this. I’ve researched online to bring to you some of the best ways you can make money online. There are thousands, but I’ve kept the list short to those methods that, with the right training and knowledge, will provide an income.

Here are just five of the best ways to make money online;

Affiliate Marketing

With the right products and the right types of marketing, it’s possible to do really well at affiliate marketing. How well will always depend on the products, the demand and traffic to your product via your affiliate link. The income potential from this type of business can be high, when done consistently and properly. You can spend many hours setting up an affiliate promotion and end up with nothing. You can’t go it alone and you should get some knowledge, in the form of training or a coach. If you are new to affiliate marketing or have had no success to date, you really need to get educated.

Become an online freelancer

This is yet another great way to create an income, you most likely won’t become super wealthy from this system, but you will certainly create a nice side income to help you through college. It’s also a lot more fun to sit in your own home and work at something you enjoy, rather than flipping burgers or cycling around delivering meals.

ways to make money online

I’m not knocking those jobs, believe me, I am happy there are people that will do that to bring food to me, but I don’t see that as making the best use of your skills or your time. As an online freelancer, you can be up and running in no time, it will take a while to build a reputation, but there are ways to get this done quick.

That too is learnable. You can register with a number of online freelance sites and start offering services you have skills in. An example is don’t be suckered into thinking you only make a $5 per ‘gig’, that’s usually the entry level price.

When a customer wants more versions, or quicker delivery or higher resolutions or whatever is above the ‘standard’, that’s when you can charge more. It’s even possible to arbitrage freelance services, there are courses on how to do that too.

Develop your own online course and sell it

You’ll be good at something, everyone is, so why not use those skills to create an online course and sell it to people who are interested.

There are many online course sites to choose from these days, some are better and more reputable than others. You can even create courses on almost any subject these days, take hobbies – if you have a hobby and you know something in that hobby is challenging or has learnable skills, why not create a course on ‘how to… ‘. This is another great way to create passive income whilst getting yourself through college.

Sell Amazon FBA

That in itself is a whole new course right there, but when you get it right you can make an income for as long as you want to run the store and for as long as there is a demand for what you are selling. FBA even means all the packing and postage is handled by Amazon, so you don’t even have to handle the shipping of your own products. Again you’ll need to learn how to do this well, but like anything, to be successful you have to invest in yourself.

Write and sell your own ebook

If you have a great idea, or you have some knowledge about a special subject or niche. If you enjoy writing, then self-publishing and selling your own book online has never been easier. In fact, even if you don’t have any idea on what to write about, there are courses that will help you learn how to self-publish your own book. I have published my own books, here’s an example of one of mine and it’s just $7:

I hope you’ve found this information useful and that you’ll act on some of the ideas. Although I have said these are great to help pay your way through college, I’m sure you are smart enough to see that anyone can start these businesses. So there’s nothing stopping you. All of these can be started for free on the internet just as soon as you close this email.

8 occupations that won’t exist by 2030

What have you done in 2018 that makes your future self proud?

Amazingly it’s the end of yet another week, we just slipped quietly from October into November, that’s 10 months of 2018 gone, if like me, it seems it went in the blink of an eye – right?

We’re now less than 60 days from 2019, soon we’ll be celebrating Christmas with friends, families and co-workers, for those of you still in paid work anyway.

Inevitably the conversation will come round to 2019 and ‘your New Years resolution’.

But, I want you to look back to last New Years Eve.

Did you make any resolutions? Did you write them down? Did you review them every day? Did those resolutions come to fruition?

I’m guessing very few of you did anything past making a resolution or two. I’m willing to wager almost no-one has fulfilled a single one of them. If I’m wrong let me know, you know how to contact me.

So where you are right now is a result of everything you’ve done in the past, what you do now can and will change your future. Today is ‘the future self’ of the last New Year, is today’s ‘future self’ from then, proud of what you’ve achieved? If it is, I’m proud for you too, but what if it isn’t? What will you do today that will change your direction and provide velocity to your goals and dreams?

online business startup

Don’t wait for New Years Eve to make some fluffy resolutions. Sit down now and look at where you want your business and your life to go, write it down, start a plan – an action plan. Start with small steps and tasks and I guarantee that by the time New Years Eve comes around these 60 days will make your 31 DEC ‘future self’ proud.

If you are serious about becoming financially free and secure, stop working to someone else plan and work to your own. Commit to doing something every day in your business that moves it forward, however little it seems, every step forward is growth. Do it so your future self will be proud of you.

Until next time, thanks for reading.

start your own online business

So You Want To Start Your Own Business?

So You Want To Start Your Own Business?

So you have decided to start your very own small business. Excellent decision! This is the first step to your financial freedom. Doesn’t everyone want that in life?

But you may want to know more first before starting out. That’s another good thing because knowledge is power. Knowing what to do beforehand gives you the power to do it the right way.

start your own online business

I’ve laid out a few things you need to know before starting your own small business.

The Why

It’s Monday. You wake up to your 6am alarm, and get yourself ready for the day’s work. Take a shower, eat breakfast, get dressed, walk out the door, get on the tube, enter the office, take your seat, and get to work. That’s the usual daily routine. The thought of starting a small business in the UK has never crossed your mind. Of course not, since you have lots of work to do.

We do the things we do for a reason. If you’re looking for exactly that, this is where to start. Read this article to find your why.

The What

What are you good at?
In other words, what are your skills? What sort of education do you have? What do you already have on you that you can use to make money? Let me give you some simple examples.

starting an online business

Let’s say you’re a good artist. That’s a skill. It’s something you can monetise. With that, you could set yourself up as a graphic designer. You could make logos for a price. You could make prints and sell them. You could also make shirt designs and sell them. It’s up to you.

Once you’ve found your why, the next question is “what”. What kind of a business should you start? Read this one to know more about finding the right business for you.

The How

Having the right attitudes is everything in business.
When you want to start your own UK small business, keep this in mind. How you think is as important as what you do. When thought and action align, you are on the path to success. And because it’s only you who can make your business succeed, it’s all the more important.

Now that you’ve identified the why and the what, now comes the “how”. How should you run the business? No, I’m not talking about strategies yet. That comes later.

It all starts in the mind. How, in terms of mindset, should you approach doing business? Read this one to find out.

multitasking skills

Is this female skill stopping your business growing? | Multitasking

Hello again, hope all is well with you and yours, how’s your week been – as productive as you’d like?

If, like me, in the early days of building my home based business I found it wasn’t always productive. I would often find myself at the end of the week not feeling my own business had moved on at all.

I’d see the results from my day job and my employer was satisfied with the output, but whilst I had a high output at my paid job, my own personal goals and home business goals were lacking.

I sat down and took a long hard look at what it was that was causing this lack of progress, lack of velocity as I like to term it. I realised – it wasn’t any one thing. I realised I was focussed on the wrong tasks, those tasks that you could think of as low productivity tasks….

‘What might that be – Peter?’

Well let me call out one major task with you, I am pretty sure you can relate to it, in some way;

It’s (drum roll please)………..

I know women are supposed to be highly skilled at multitasking (hence the tile), but I am not convinced that anyone is really. Better to focus on one task, get it done then move to the next.

multitasking skills

Let’s say you start your session with 6 unfinished tasks and you multitask to move them all forward, almost certainly by the end of your session you’ll have moved most of them along, but you’ll likely still have 6 unfinished tasks – how will that make you feel? Not that excited about your own business I’m sure.

It’s much better to have a task list and highlight the most productive tasks and get them done one at a time, then tick them off as ‘done’.

At the end of your home business session, you will have closed off some tasks. And, even if it’s only 1 completed task (trust me – it won’t be), then picture how much more satisfied and motivated in your business you’ll be!

This and many other sage pieces of advice are available to you at the click of a mouse go here. Even if you are working to a tight budget.

It’s Crunch Time: How To Stop Being Overwhelmed?

I was chatting with an old, well not that old actually, friend a few days ago.

She was telling me how she was struggling to keep focused on her tasks with so many other distractions in her schedule, kids squealing around her, her partner getting grumpy (‘you never have time for me’), she can’t concentrate and get things done.

crunch time

‘Stop!’ I said

Get a grip girl! Clearly not the right thing to say to a woman – especially coming from a man. She looked at me through those evil squinty eyes, you know that look – right, but before I turned to stone I said…

‘Look, cut down the time you’re working on your business and get more focussed – crunch your time – all of it!’

As she sipped her G&T she whispered ‘crunch it – FFS’

‘Yes, crunch it’

I went on to explain crunching time. Or It’s crunch time!

Take a piece of work or task, or pretty much anything you have to do and do ONLY that one thing / task. So, let’s say you have to spend some time with you kids, helping them study, then just do that – and only that! Your kids will love you for it as they get your undivided attention, your other half will love it as they get some ‘me time’. Win – win -win.

Here’s the thing – you have to have rules!

You and they have to commit to this new way of being… as much as is possible, in these crunch times that you set.

crunching time

The rules –

1 – Focus only on that one task no distractions

2 – No one is allowed to interrupt during the crunch session – it breaks the momentum and impacts on the output.

3 – Crunch time is only 40 minutes

4 – When it’s over it’s done

5 – Take a break (10 minutes should do it)

6 – Move to the next crunch or free time

She looked up from her now half full G&T and smiled.

‘That just might work’, she said.

‘There’s no might’ I replied – and I’ll have what your drinking – thanks.
